Seb Murray Joins Andretti Cape for 2025 INDY NXT Season
Scottish teenager Seb Murray has made a significant leap in his motorsport career by signing with Andretti Cape for the 2025 INDY NXT by Firestone season. At just 17 years old, Murray will pilot the No. 2 Dream Racing Dubai Dallara, completing the team's driver lineup alongside Ricardo Escotto.
Murray's racing journey began in karting, where he competed in the IAME Series UAE from 2017 to 2023 and the IAME Euro Series in 2021 and 2022. He transitioned to car racing in 2022, making his debut at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Formula 4 UAE Trophy Round, securing two top-10 finishes. In 2023, he participated in the full F4 UAE season, achieving a best finish of 13th, and later that year, he competed in the GB4 Championship, earning three top-10 finishes across two events.
The following year, Murray continued to impress in the F4 UAE series, scoring a top-five finish at the Yas Marina Circuit. He then advanced to the GB3 Championship, making 24 starts and achieving a best finish of seventh.
Murray's move to INDY NXT marks his first foray into American open-wheel racing. He had the opportunity to test a USF Pro 2000 car at Barber Motorsports Park and recently completed his first laps in an INDY NXT car during testing at Sebring International Raceway with the Andretti Cape team.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Murray stated, "I can’t wait to be racing with Andretti Cape in INDY NXT this year and would like to thank everybody on the team for giving me this opportunity. I’m confident that 2025 is going to be a fun season with lots of new experiences for me, such as competing on ovals for the first time."
Dominic Cape, President of Cape Motorsports, shared his optimism about Murray's addition to the team, saying, "We are extremely excited to have Seb in our Andretti Cape lineup for the 2025 INDY NXT season. Last week’s test in Sebring gave us some insight into working with him, and for his first time in an INDY NXT car, he was able to adapt and give us some great feedback."
Murray's debut in the INDY NXT series is highly anticipated, as he brings a wealth of experience from his time in European and Middle Eastern racing circuits. His progression through the ranks at such a young age highlights his potential and determination to succeed in the competitive world of motorsport.
