Seb’s Indy NXT’s Debut Season: The Best Moments
Seb Murray completed a highly encouraging rookie campaign in the INDY NXT, racing with Andretti Cape Motorsports throughout the 2025 season. The year represented a significant step up, marking Seb’s first season in American open-wheel racing and his first experience of both street circuits and oval racing.
Facing a much more powerful car and an entirely new racing environment compared to previous years in his career, Seb approached the challenge with maturity and a strong focus on learning. While the opening rounds presented inevitable challenges, his ability to adapt quickly became a defining feature of the season, with clear progress shown weekend by weekend across a wide variety of circuits.
Seb’s development translated into tangible results as the season progressed. A major highlight came at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, where he secured an impressive fifth-place finish in the second race of the doubleheader - his best result of the year. He also delivered a strong sixth-place finish on the streets of Detroit, showcasing his growing confidence with the street circuits and the series on the whole.
Across the campaign, Seb recorded multiple top-10 finishes and consistently improved his qualifying pace, race execution, and tyre management. His work ethic and close collaboration with the Andretti Cape Motorsports engineering team played a key role in this upward trajectory.
Seb concluded the 2025 season third in the Rookie Standings, underlining the strength and consistency of his debut year.
Reflecting on the season, Seb said:
“It was a huge step up for me in every sense; a new car, new team, new tracks, street circuits and ovals, and a completely different style of racing. There were definitely challenges early on, but I learned something every weekend and felt myself improving as the season went on. To come away with strong results, a best finish of fifth, and third in the rookie standings is something I’m really proud of. I’m very grateful to Andretti Cape Motorsports for their support and belief throughout the year.”
Overall, Seb’s first INDY NXT campaign demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and clear potential - laying a solid foundation for 2026 as he looks to build on the experience gained in his sophomore Indy NXT campaign.
