2026 Season Opener: Sebring Test Highlights
Seb made a strong start to his 2026 campaign with an encouraging performance at the opening INDY NXT pre-season test, held in January at Sebring International Raceway. Located in central Florida, Sebring hosted the first official on-track running of the year and marked Seb’s first test of the season with Andretti Global.
Across the two-day test, Seb demonstrated immediate pace at one of the most physically and technically demanding circuits on the calendar. A third-fastest time on Day 1 proved decisive, securing him third overall on the combined timesheets across both days-an excellent early benchmark as preparations for the new season begin.
Sebring’s abrasive and bumpy concrete surface-owing to its origins as a former airfield-makes it one of the most demanding test venues in North America. Despite not featuring on the INDY NXT race calendar, the circuit is widely regarded as an ideal off-season proving ground, placing a premium on mechanical grip, car balance, and precise driver feedback. Seb used the test to work through a structured programme focused on baseline setup and further developing his understanding of the Dallara IL-15 chassis and Firestone tyres, extracting valuable performance insights across both days.
A key strength of the test was Seb’s close collaboration with Andretti Global and his race engineer, Tyler, building on the relationship the pair established during the 2025 season. Having worked together throughout Seb’s rookie year, the continuity allowed both driver and engineer to progress efficiently from the outset, evaluating setup direction and car behaviour with clear reference points and confidence.
Reflecting on the test, Seb said:
“It was a really positive way to start 2026, especially being the first test of the year with Andretti. Sebring is a tough place to drive, but that’s what makes it such a good test venue. Tyler and I built a strong relationship during 2025, and that continuity really helped-we were able to get straight into meaningful work on the setup and car progression. The result on the timesheet is always good to see, but more importantly we came away with a strong base to build from heading into the season.”
The Sebring test marked an encouraging opening chapter to Seb’s sophomore INDY NXT campaign, setting a positive tone as preparations continue toward the opening rounds of the 2026 season.
